Plutarch against Herodotus: Reasons of Censorship

The aim of this paper is to analyze Plutarch’s Herodoti malignitate in order to show his motivation for writing the text. After discussing Plutarch’s objections about Herodotus’ work, we conclude that Herodoti malignitate is an ideologic work that belongs to a specific cultural movement, the Second Sophistic
