Abstract

Dionysius of Halicarnassus’ testimony has been the main evidence to approach the style of the atthidography. However, it has been understood without considering its cultural and literary context. This paper proposesa reinterpretation taking into account Dionysius’ literary tastes, anditalso explores the context of the revival of the Antiquarian literature at the end of the Roman Republic
