Abstract

The aim of this work is to review and examine the volumes of the collection The I Tatti Renaissance Library on the prefaces that the editor based in Venice Aldus Manutius (c.1451-1515) wrote as preamblesfor his numerous editions of Latin and Greek texts, in light of the importance that such editions had for the dissemination of classical culture from Renaissance to the present day.
