Mecanismos trágicos y polémica en las Historias (Plb. 38.20)

El pasaje 38.20 de las Historias de Polibio presenta una serie de características narratológicas y estilísticas que podrían vincularse con la denominada historiografía “trágica”. Este trabajo pretende dar cuenta de la existencia de estos pasajes “trágicos” en las Historias y, a través de la comparación de 38.20 con 2.56 (la famosa crítica a Filarco, donde se le acusa de conmover inapropiadamente al lector distorsionando los hechos y empleando mecanismos típicos de la tragedia), dilucidar en qué se diferencia el relato del megalopolitano del de sus congéneres. También se busca enmarcar 2.56 en el contexto polémico de las Historias a través de la comparación con otras críticas. Al identificar qué elementos concretos reprocha Polibio a otros historiadores y con qué propósito, podemos esclarecer si la presencia de pasajes “trágicos” en las Historias compromete en alguna medida el programa metodológico polibiano.
